Oxylabs vs Decodo

Decodo is the proxy people buy after they looked at Oxylabs, liked it, and balked at the price and the paperwork. Same class of performance, less money, fewer hoops. Oxylabs is the one you buy when support and scale matter more than the invoice.

Decodo used to be Smartproxy; it rebranded in April 2025, same company and pools. I pay for both. Here is where the gap actually is.

Price

Decodo starts at $4/GB pay-as-you-go and around $2.75/GB once you reach 100 GB, with a floor near $2/GB at high volume. Oxylabs starts at $6/GB on its $30 Starter plan, with a monthly minimum and no real pay-as-you-go, dropping to $2.50/GB at a terabyte.

At small and mid volume Decodo is clearly cheaper and lets you pay as you go. At the very top the two nearly meet, and price stops being the deciding factor.

Speed and success

This is the surprise. In Proxyway's 2026 testing Decodo was the fastest residential network measured, 99.92% success at 0.53s, a hair ahead of Oxylabs at 99.93% and 0.60s. On raw residential performance they are a tie, and Decodo is the quicker to respond.

Both numbers are against an easy endpoint, so expect lower on hard anti-bot targets. The point still stands: you are not buying worse proxies by going with Decodo.

Targeting and scale

Oxylabs has the bigger advertised pool, 175M+ against Decodo's 115M+, and slightly broader targeting (it adds coordinate and continent filters). Decodo covers continent, country, state, city, ZIP and ASN, which is enough for almost everyone.

If you need coordinate-level geo, or you run at a scale where pool depth genuinely matters, Oxylabs has the edge. Otherwise this is a wash.

Getting in the door

Decodo is self-serve with a 3-day free trial and no business KYC. Oxylabs runs KYC on every customer and gates its residential trial to verified businesses, with individuals getting only a 3-day money-back window.

If you are a solo developer or a small team, Decodo will simply let you start. Oxylabs might not.

Support and extras

This is where Oxylabs earns its premium: account managers, a deeper enterprise support bench, and a mature scraper-API suite. Decodo's support is responsive but lighter.

If you are a large team that needs a name to call when a pipeline breaks at 2am, that is worth paying for. If you are not, you are paying for a desk you will never use.

The call

For most people reading this, Decodo is the better buy: the same measured performance, faster responses, lower price, and no KYC wall. It is the value pick and it is not close on price.

Oxylabs is worth the premium when you are an enterprise that needs the support, the larger pool, or coordinate-level targeting, and KYC is not a problem. Then the extra money buys real things. If that is not you, it mostly buys reassurance.

Is Decodo the same as Smartproxy?

Yes. Smartproxy rebranded to Decodo in April 2025. Same company, same infrastructure and pools, new name.

Which is faster?

Decodo, narrowly. In Proxyway's 2026 test it was the fastest residential network measured at 0.53s average, just ahead of Oxylabs at 0.60s, with near-identical success rates.

Do I need a business to use Oxylabs?

For the residential trial and full access, effectively yes. Oxylabs runs KYC on every customer and gates the trial to verified businesses. Decodo is self-serve with no business KYC.
